Latest Google Ads Updates That You Need To Know

Google Ads is an effective way to reach out to potential customers. However, in order for it to be effective, you need to keep up with the latest updates.

Google has just announced a series of updates to its advertising platform, which will affect how businesses and marketers create and manage their campaigns. In this article, we will discuss three of the most recent updates and how they can benefit your business.

New features on the Insights Page to drive better performance

The Insights Page helps marketers identify areas where they're doing well and those where they need to improve. This helps us improve campaign performance and broaden our business strategy.

With the new updates, Google Ads will be launching new Insights page features to make it easier and quicker for us to uncover impactful insights. Here are two new changes for the Insights Page.

  1. Asset audience insights: This helps us see how our text, image, and video assets resonate with specific audience segments.

  1. Diagnostic insights: After creating a Performance Max campaign, the diagnostic insights will show us any outstanding setup issues that can prevent our ads from showing.

New ways to create custom columns

To quickly see the information that’s most important to our business, Google Ads has a custom columns tool to help each business. To cite an example, instead of reviewing your clickthrough rate (CTR) in one aggregate column, you could now create a custom column that displays your CTR on desktop or mobile devices only.

With the new updates, Google Ads adds new metrics and features that make it easier to view our data. You can now do the following with custom columns:

  • Include spreadsheet functions.

  • Calculate and compare metrics across date ranges.

  • Reference other custom columns in a formula.

  • Add more non-metric columns in your formula, including columns like "Campaign name," "Budget," and more.

  • Utilize new column formats like "Text", "True/False," and "Date".

  • Apply multiple filters to one formula.

  • Filter by custom variables for conversions.

  • Any columns you create will also be available in custom reporting tools like the Report Editor and dashboards in Google Ads.

Review performance across accounts with manager account dashboards

The Dashboard is where you can review consolidated performance statistics from across your account in one single place. Currently, most people may find it difficult to spot potential problems and opportunities across multiple accounts because these dashboards can only pull in data from individual accounts. That is why, with the new update, these dashboards can now be used at the manager account level—making it easier for marketers to manage and navigate.

Additionally, there are other improvements in the dashboards to make them faster and easier to use.

  • Change date ranges and filters for the dashboard as a whole.

  • Add interactive table cards, rich formatting features, and conditional formatting.

  • Download reports faster and at a higher quality.

  • Resize cards and layouts dynamically based on window size.

  • Create a dashboard card by copying over existing saved reports.
